A few tips for the RvR Challenge

Since the community is quite exciting about the RvR challenge, it is my pleasure to share a few tips with those who would like to try the RvR-only Challenge set by Syp.

1.Pick a oRvR server.

2/6 Edit: Viliphied had pointed out that the oRvR servers doesn’t provide bolsters for open RvR lakes, which is something that you need to think about. Another thing about oRvR servers is that you can go back 1 Tier of your level, which means that in T1, there might be some LV20s ganking on low levels. It wasn’t as bad as it sounds but you do need to pick a right time to do oRvR lakes.

You can pick what ever server you want, but generally if you want to level through RvR easier it is recommended that you should pick a oRvR (open RvR) server. A core server will be fine, but a RP server might be a little tough for you. The reason behind it is because in oRvR servers, the players are RvR oriented, not saying that the players in Core or RP aren’t its just that they have other things to do too, such as unlocking the PvE tome unlocks. But in a oRvR server, the players just want to do what it is intended to do, oRvR! So it will be easier for you to level through.

2.Have a main character will help quite a lot.

Unless you want to do what I have been doing which is starting fresh from a new server, otherwise it will be nice to have a main character, which can provide you gold and guild supports which means that you could get the gears that you want. (this might be a bit shady but Syp’s rule didn’t really mention if you could get support from your main character, but he did mention that you could buy gears through AH)

3.Play as a DPS or healer.

The RvR system is somewhat a bit unfair to each career in terms of how you are rewarded in SCs. My take is this, since in SCs the ones that does the most damage and the ones that does the most healings usually get the most out of a SC, it will be easier for you to roll as a DPS or a Healer. I recommend that you should roll both a DPS and a Healer at the same time just so that you will be able to switch between the two, so you don’t get too board or feel frustrated by the same thing. Rolling as a healer might also make leveling a bit faster because as a decent healer, you should be able to win most of the SCs, thus more EXP for you in a shorter time.

4.Know what you are doing. (in terms of playing the career)

I wouldn’t recommend you to pick a career that you have never played and have no idea how to play to do the challenge, of cause you could still do it, what I am saying here is that because the road to lv40 with an RvR only character is pretty long (especially once you hit T4). You should make sure that you love this career and have studied it a bit to understand its mechanic and its mastery paths. Otherwise if you lose interest in the career that you choose, you might hate it thus, kind of make your WAR experience going sour.

5.Do the oRvR quests.

There are a lot of oRvR quests available in all three parings, so don’t miss out on those experience and gold.

O.k. Hopefully these 5 simple tips will help you in the RvR-only challenge. If you have any questions, please leave a comment or email me so that I can help you out!

S.T. out.

  1. I disagree with your #1. No bolstering on oRvR servers means you’re pretty much confined to scenarios for the early levels of each tier. It’s bad enough being lvl 12, 22 or 32 with bolstering. Without, it’d be a nightmare.

    • Sure, I guess its more of a personal preference, since I enjoy playing SCs, I felt that oRvR servers will suit better for me. I will edit the tip and let people know.
